March 19, 2016 [Woodbury, NY] ∼
On March 19, 2016, the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York held their 49th Annual Engineering Excellence Awards ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. Each year over 100 firms submit projects for recognition in terms of innovation, complexity and value to society. B. Thayer Associates is proud to have our Land Surveying/Mapping Department awarded the Gold Award for their contribution to the Coney Island Street Mapping Project.
The mapping project was commissioned to serve as the basis for design of infrastructure improvements needed to unlock five (5) city-owned land parcels for the development of affordable housing, community facilities, ground floor retail, and landscaped areas. The primary goal of the project is to transform the area into an affordable, year-round urban entertainment destination and to facilitate development of new housing and retail uses.
Our firm was tasked with providing design grade mapping with utility profiles of a network of eight (8) interlocking streets totaling over 11,000 linear feet of roadway.
